| Miller's style is based on the traditional techniques of artists such
as Mississippi
John Hurt, Blind
Blake, Mance
Lipscomb, Etta
Baker, Big
Bill Broonzy and Elizabeth
Cotton, all of whom usually maintained a steady bass with the right
hand thumb while picking out melody, fills and middle voices with the
other fingers.
One way of conceptualizing this style is to think of the right hand
thumb as a piano player's left hand and the other fingers as the piano
player's right hand.
In his forty five years playing guitar Miller has applied this style to
various kinds of music including Blues, Ragtime
and Novelty Tunes, Beatles' songs, Jazz
Standards and Opera Arias.
